Database on Jewish Residents in Germany from 1933 to 1945

Database on Jewish Residents in Germany from 1933 to 1945

Commissioned by the Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future”, Berlin and the Federal Archives Koblenz, Facts & Files researched the backgrounds of Jewish emigrants, who were forced by the National Socialists to leave the German Reich after 1933.

The database on Jewish Residents in Germany from 1933 to 1945 was compiled under the aegis of the Federal Archive in collaboration with Yad Vashem and other international organizations. Facts & Files was member of the advisory group and was responsible for research and the editing of card indexes and files at various German archives. We developed a MSAccess database for information editing. Altogether, 2.5 Million data set entries were collected. The completion and revision of the entries was the goal of a second project task.

Facts & Files investigated holdings in Switzerland, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom to find more information about emigrated Jewish Germans. The results were added to the database.
