Commissioned by the Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future”

Facts & Files was commissioned by the foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” to produce expert reports on Jewish forced labor during the time of National Socialism in various European and North African states, such as Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco.

Facts & Files described the current status of global research on this topic and analyzed archival holdings.

The Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” (German acronym EVZ), was established after several years of national and international negotiations. The Law on the Creation of a Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” was passed in August 2000 in the German Bundestag. The law provided for individual humanitarian payments to be made to former slave and forced labourers and other victims of National Socialism.
