Traces of India in Berlin Archives
Following up from last semester we are co-organising a seminar at Humboldt University on Indian sources in Berlin archives. The seminar is part of the MIDA project funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.
There are diverse sources on Indian history: The sound recordings of Indian Prisoners of War in German prison camps (WWI), the reports of bureaucrats from West and East Germany who wrote about their activities in India, travelogues and memoirs of individuals who travelled to India, collections of photographs and post cards, state records on the lives of Indians in Germany, articles on India in German newspapers.
The students are visiting archives in Berlin and are conducting research there.
